Greenville Bankers Offer ‘Hope’ Through Nonprofit Banking Partnership

SouthState proudly partners with local nonprofit organizations that make lasting change in the lives of the vulnerable.

One such partner in Greenville, South Carolina, is giving families a place to call home.

SouthState serves as the bank for Homes of Hope, a multi-prong organization offering affordable housing, sobriety support and job training for men, as well as economic development.

"SouthState understands the unique needs of non-profits, and we are so grateful for the relationship we have with Homes of Hope. They provide such a needed service in the Upstate of South Carolina, and we appreciate the support they provide to our friends and neighbors,” said Mike Coggin, Upstate Division president at SouthState Bank.

Don Oglesby, president and CEO of Homes of Hope, says SouthState has truly bought into the nonprofit’s “life-changing” work. “SouthState has been such a great partner for us in so many ways, not just in sponsoring what we do, but really understanding what we do. They’re willing to invest time, effort and advice,” he says.

Oglesby says SouthState’s bankers have always felt like they’re another member of the Homes of Hope family. Even as the bank has grown, bankers remain committed to him and his team through consistent availability. He notices they’ve also remained committed to the local community through volunteerism as well.

SouthState’s Greenville bankers recently participated in the worthy mission of Homes of Hope by volunteering to do landscaping at several of the homes Homes of Hope rents in the community. SouthState also supports the organization through Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) loans.

“Personally, I love giving back to the community and making the place that I call home a little bit better, and I love that SouthState encourages team members to volunteer with organizations like Homes of Hope,” adds Premier Private Banker Allyson Powell.
