Eight Spring Events in Our Communities


The start of spring means the start of a great festival season across the south. Our South State communities offer a variety of events that will inspire you to get out and explore everything our region has to offer. From art to golf to food, we have you covered.

ArtFields 2015 – Lake City, SC, April 24 – May 2

A massive, nine-day art festival meets small town South Carolina with ArtFields’ 2015 competition. Artists from across the southeast will be vying for part of the $100,000 prizes and the public is welcome to take in the best of the best. The art is displayed throughout the town and dozens of events are planned to give guests the best experience possible. This is a one-of-a-kind event in the south and should make it on your calendar.

RBC Heritage Golf Tournament – Hilton Head Island, SC, April 13 – 19

Pack your plaid and head to the beach for the 47th RBC Heritage presented by Boeing at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, SC. Join the best of professional golf with a week of family friendly events, great food and drink and spectacular island views. Events include the opening ceremonies on the 18th green, practice rounds, Coca-Cola Youth Day and four days of top-notch golf.

South Carolina Strawberry Festival – Fort Mill, SC, May 1 – 2

Few things welcome spring like picking your own strawberries. Events at this weeklong celebration, beginning April 24, include the SC Strawberry Festival pageant, the Pick N’Flick, golf tournament and car show. Save your appetite for the weekend festival and join one of the popular eating contests. Pick from ice cream, strawberry shortcake or hot wings. The contests are first come, first serve so come early and come hungry.

Orangeburg Festival of Roses – Orangeburg, SC, May 1 – 3

Wander through the 175-acre Edisto Memorial Gardens during one of the more popular events in South Carolina. A variety of activities for all ages will take place over three days and include a 12k run, 5k run/walk, Blackwater River Race, two stages of music and entertainment, airplane rides by The New Hawthorne Aviators and sports tournaments. Be sure to save time to take in the dozens of varieties of flowers.

Pickens Azalea Festival – Pickens, SC, April 17 – 18

Celebrate small town South Carolina at the Pickens Azalea Festival this April with local artists and crafters, local food vendors, shops and eateries and a variety of entertainment. This year also marks the return of the baking competition, which celebrates local amateur bakers.

Blue Crab Festival – Sumter, SC, May 16 – 17

Join more than 50,000 seafood lovers at this award winning festival on the Waterfront in Little River, SC. Take in the beauty pageant and classic southern coastal views before watching any of the four bands that will be performing. All proceeds from the festival go to the Little River community, its residents and local organizations.

River Street Seafood Fest – Savannah, GA, May 1 – 3,

A weekend of fresh seafood, live music and local art is a good way to celebrate the peak of spring. Start Friday with your choice seafood and fireworks and come back Saturday and Sunday for music and even more seafood choices. Savannah’s favorite restaurants are participating so it’s safe to assume the food will be out of this world.

Mud Mania – Simpsonville, SC, April 25

Looking for a chance to get a little dirty while having fun with your friends? Try taking on the Mud Run sponsored by the Hillcrest Memorial Hospital. Sign up with a team of 4 and take on 22 obstacles on the 3.5 mile course. Be prepared to get dirty, be challenged and have a ton of fun. This event is not for the faint of heart, but there are spectator areas for those who just want to take in all the contestants.
