About Helen C. Pratt-Thomas
Helen is a Senior Vice President and Senior Wealth Commercial Banker for South State Bank in Charleston, SC. Her primary role is to serve as the point of contact for commercial businesses. She also works closely with affluent and high net-worth individuals and her team of experienced specialists to offer financial planning, trust and estate services, investment management, brokerage and customized credit solutions.
Prior to joining South State Bank in 2015, Helen was associated with a large regional financial institution from 2004 to 2014 where she held both Commercial and Private Banking positions.
Helen is the Vice President of the Charleston Animal Society and Chair of Strategic Planning. She is a Vice President of the Carolina Art Association d/b/a the Gibbes Museum of Art, Co-Chair of Finance and the Founder of Society 1858, which is an auxiliary group of the Gibbes Museum. Helen is also an incoming Board Member of Roper St. Francis Foundation and Co-Chair of Planned Giving. She is Past President of the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children Center and a former Trustee of Historic Charleston Foundation.
Her civic and community distinctions include: 2016 Recipient of The Fern Karesh Hurst Award for Community Service by Ashley Hall School; 2015 “Dancing with Stars” Celebrity Dancer in the Oxygen Ball to benefit the American Lung Association; 2013 Judge for The Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award; 2012 Recipient of The Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award; 2011 Recipient of The Susan P. Parsell Volunteer of the Year Award by The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center; and the 2010 Recipient of The Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Most Influential Women in Business Award.
Helen was born and raised in Charleston, SC. She has a large close extended family and five godchildren. She enjoys spending time on her farm on Wadmalaw Island. She has two English Springer Spaniels who are the apple of her eye.
