About Michael Williams
Michael leads the South State Private Wealth team based in Richmond. He is responsible for promoting South State Private Wealth in Richmond and for ensuring a high-quality, proactive service experience for Richmond-based clientele. He joined South State Bank in 2014.
Michael earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1983. Following college, he was employed by First Virginia Bank in Retail Banking. After receiving his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in 1988, Michael entered the trust and wealth management industry where he has held numerous positions.
Michael is a current member and the Past Chairman of the VBA Trust and Wealth Management Committee. He is also a member of the Richmond Estate Planning Council, where he has served on the management team, and the Trust Adminstrators Council.
Michael is a Board Member of the Better Housing Coalition and the Richmond Retirement System. He is the former Chairman of the Carver Promise and a previous Board Member of Bon Secours Joint Hospital, Virginia Heroes and the Westminster Canterbury Foundation. Michael is a member of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 1995 and the Inside Business Top 40 Under 40 Class of 1999.
Michael and his wife, Carol, have two young adult children and live in Richmond.
