About William M. Coker, CFP® CTFA®
Bill Coker graduated from the University of Virginia in 1982 with a B. S. in Commerce including a concentration in Finance. He is a 1991 Honor Graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and he has been a Certified Financial Planner® since 2003.
Bill was employed by Wachovia Bank and its predecessor, South Carolina National Bank, for 27 years. He held a variety of leadership positions in Commercial and Retail Banking, and was Market President for Spartanburg from 1997-2004. In 2000, Bill joined Wachovia’s Wealth Management Group and was made a Partner in 2007.
In late 2009, Bill joined South State Bank as a Senior Vice President and Director of Relationship Management for South State Private Wealth. In conjunction with other key advisors, Bill works with individuals and families to implement the appropriate solutions to meet their financial objectives.
Bill is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mary Black Foundation. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Councils of Greenville and Spartanburg. He is a past Chair of the Board of several nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of the Piedmont, the Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg, and St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic.
Bill enjoys boating, running, and reading. He lives in Spartanburg with his wife of 25 years, Sally, and their two teenage children.
