Crossings on Main – a Family Affair in Fort Mill, SC

Converge Mobile Tablet
When Gail Lavender and her daughter, Cathie Smith, decided to open Crossings on Main, they thought it would be a good side business to feed their decorating passions. Twenty-four years later, the business has become a staple in the rejuvenated downtown of Fort Mill, SC.

Aligning the business with the growing community has helped keep business booming. Cathie uses a robust social media presence, a full event schedule and a dedication to keeping the store fresh with new displays and merchandise to keep her customers coming back.

In fact, being part of the community is what makes the difference for a small business in a small town. Cathie pulls from her own experience when giving advice for new business owners, “You need to put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to take chances, be it on social media or with unique pieces.” As an annual visitor to the Atlanta Gift Market, Cathie is always looking for special pieces to entice customers in off the street or to deter them from just shopping online.

With her dedicated team, great inventory and popular event series, Cathie and Crossings on Main are bringing beautiful décor (and now clothing!) to Fort Mill and beyond.
