COLUMBIA, S.C. – (Nov. 16, 2018) – South State Bank has donated $5,000 to Family Connection in both Fannin County and Gilmer County, Georgia.

“Georgia has the unique advantage of having a statewide network in Family Connection – the only one of its kind in the nation – dedicated to the health and well-being of families and communities,” said Joseph Brice, South State retail area manager. “At South State, we believe strong families are the key to strong communities and vibrant economies. We are pleased to be able to further the resources of Family Connection in Fannin and Gilmer counties, where we live and work.”

“The vision of Family Connection is ‘a community of safe and healthy families,’ and we strive every day to make sure our disadvantaged families have food for nourishment, a place to come to find resources, financial aid and clothing,” said Sherry Morris, director of Fannin County Family Connection. “South State Bank has a service motto of ‘taking the time to get things just right so that our communities thrive.’ The mission and way of doing business at Family Connection and that of South State Bank are closely aligned, and each organization works for the benefit of the community.”

“Gilmer Family Connection is both honored and humbled that we were chosen to receive the very generous donation from South State Bank,” said Merle Howell Naylor, director of Gilmer Family Connection. “We believe that everyone has the ability to become productive citizens, and our goal is to help people reach their potential by empowering our children and families. The funds will be used to continue supporting our youth and families through programs like Teen Maze, Reality Day, Christmas Campaign and growing our community partnerships.”
