South State Donates $8,000 to Support Programs for Belton-area Families

Belton Donation

Matt Mundy, Belton South State branch manager, presents a $4,000 check from South State Bank to Abigail Burden of the Belton Area Museum Association.

BELTON, S.C. – (Oct. 30, 2018) – South State Bank today announced it has donated $4,000 each to the Belton Tennis Association and the Belton Area Museum Association.

“The Belton Tennis Association and the Belton Area Museum Association both provide valuable services to the families in Belton and surrounding towns. Building strong families helps build strong economies and strong communities, and we recognize the importance of helping all three thrive,” said South State Belton Branch Manager Matt Mundy.

“South State’s contribution will help us maintain, beautify and improve the Belton Tennis Center,” said Rex Maynard, Belton Tennis Association board member. “Our facility is funded through private funds but is open to the public for free play both day and night. We’re proud to be able to provide this for the Belton Community and appreciate South State’s support and generosity!”

Abigail Burden, executive director of the Belton Area Museum Association said, “This funding will be used to develop exhibits that will enhance the experience of all who visit the museums. Creating new interactive exhibits that celebrate the shared heritage of our region makes coming to the museum new and different each time a visitor sets a foot through the doors. Some of the money will also be used to help preserve the Historic Train Depot that houses the museums.”

The Belton Tennis Association aims to develop and grow the game of tennis in the Belton community and provide the best possible programs, events, socials, tournaments, lessons and clinics for as many people as possible. It provides its facilities free of charge to the public, encouraging fun, fitness and recreation for the citizens of Belton.

The Belton Area Museum Association (BAMA) is the community’s most valuable resource for the history of Belton and Anderson County, S.C. It provides cultural enrichment, learning opportunities and activities to increase the appreciation of traditional, visual and performing arts. BAMA manages several area museums, a community space and offers activities and events free to the public.
