Have you started to open your blinds to let in the spring sun only to notice that your house is looking a little dull or weathered? That means it’s time for a little spring pick me up for your home. Winter to spring is an important transition for your house. Here are some things to put on your list.
Have your AC unit checked.
When the hot air moves in, and we all know it’ll happen fast, you don’t want to be left with a broken air conditioner. Hire a Heating and Air company to assess your unit, clean the coils and wash the condenser. Inside, make sure you change your air filters every three months to keep clean air flowing.
Power wash driveways and walkways.
Increase the curb appeal of your home by cleaning off mildew or discoloration from your driveway. Power washing your driveway or walkway will also help rid your yard of the pollen that continues to stick around.
Deep clean your dryer vent.
Odds are you’ve been drying heavier clothes, like sweaters and blankets, throughout winter. Even if you’ve been diligent about cleaning your lint trap, your dryer vent could still have a back up of lint. Cleaning it out will help keep your dryer efficient and remove potential fire hazards.
Have your home treated for pests.
We aren’t the only ones excited to get outside and enjoy the warm weather. Treating your home for pests will help you get ahead of any intruders.
Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
This should be on your list for all season changes. Make sure you have a smoke detector in every bedroom and near the kitchen, and be sure to frequently test these.
Give your yard a facelift.
Take a look around your yard. Remove dead trees or broken limbs, trim healthy trees and bushes from power lines, AC unit or the foundation of your house, fertilize your lawn and start thinking of any landscaping you’d like to do now that spring is finally here!
