WINTER HAVEN, Fla., Sept. 8, 2026 — SouthState Bank today announced its new five-story regional support center under construction in downtown Winter Haven will be dedicated to Ernie Pinner, who co-founded CenterState Bank alongside current SouthState CEO John Corbett. CenterState became SouthState in 2020 via a merger of equals.
The $17 million, 40,000-square-foot building, located at 233 W. Central Ave., will serve as a regional support center for approximately 125 SouthState employees whose work supports technology and operations. The project reflects the bank’s continued investment in Winter Haven and honors the legacy of Pinner, who co-founded CenterState Bank in 1999.

“This new downtown office building provides our Winter Haven-based support team with the modern environment they need to continue serving our bankers and their clients with excellence,” said John Corbett, CEO of SouthState Bank. “There is a unique, vibrant energy in this downtown district. We want our team to be an active part of that atmosphere, and we are thrilled to deepen our presence in a place we call home.”
SouthState’s investment adds to a series of corporate and real estate developments that have helped reshape downtown Winter Haven into one of Central Florida’s emerging commercial centers. Once complete, the support center will be one of five SouthState facilities located in Winter Haven proper. SouthState is working on an additional corporate office in downtown Winter Haven and operates three branches located at 1101 First St. South, 3670 Havendale Blvd. NW and 7722 SR 544 East.
“Winter Haven is our headquarters city, and this project reflects our continued commitment to investing here as SouthState grows,” said Dale Dreyer, Florida state president at SouthState Bank. “The new regional support center will create a collaborative space for our teams while honoring the legacy of Ernie Pinner and the community where CenterState’s story began.”
The Winter Haven development follows recent SouthState facility investments in key markets including Tampa, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina, where the bank has refined its office footprint, increased brand visibility and created regional hubs designed to bring teams together.
