SouthState Helps New Homebuyers Navigate Loan Logistics

By partnering with a local financial wellness organization, SouthState aims to make the homebuying process less daunting for buyers in North Carolina.

Prosperity Unlimited, a Kannapolis, N.C.-based nonprofit and housing counseling agency, offers workshops and training through its Financial Literacy and Housing Institute, as well as Delinquency and Foreclosure Intervention services for individuals facing the threat of foreclosure. By working toward the mission of wealth stewardship, more families have the opportunity to purchase a home of their own.

David Cunningham is a SouthState mortgage banker who regularly participates in Prosperity Unlimited’s Homebuying Education seminars. He offers his expertise as a banker with many years of experience and knowledge of the North Carolina market.

Believing there can be confusion and misinformation about mortgages, Cunningham seeks to become a resource for those preparing to purchase a home.

“I want to invest time in the clients of Prosperity Unlimited because I believe in their mission of educating first-time homebuyers,” he says. “I want to make sure they have the correct answers they need and therefore become a trusted mortgage advisor for them today and in the future.”

The homebuying sessions cover topics including having capital for a down payment, being mortgage ready versus homeownership ready and credit scores. The sessions also offer information on down payment assistance, North Carolina Home Advantage Tax Credit and other financial support options that may help an individual bridge the gap to purchasing their home.
