Charles B. Thompson III

Chuck is a Senior Vice President and Wealth Advisor for SouthState Private Wealth, based in Augusta. He is responsible for proactively delivering comprehensive, advice-based financial solutions to his clientele. Chuck has many years of experience and a deep expertise in Trust Administration.

Chuck graduated from Georgia Tech in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and served in the US Navy as a supply officer from 1973 to 1979. He began his banking career in 1979 as an employee benefit trust officer with a community bank. He served as the state director of employee benefit and institutional trust services with a regional bank from 1986 until 1994, when he assumed responsibilities as a regional personal trust officer. In 2000, Chuck joined a local community bank in Augusta as senior trust officer where he founded the Trust Department. He joined SouthState Private Wealth in 2017. Chuck is currently Treasurer and a member of the Board of the Augusta Estate Planning Council. Chuck is a past board member of the Augusta Museum of History, the Augusta Symphony and University Healthcare Foundation. He is past Treasurer, Personnel Committee Chair and member of the Finance Committee for Kiokee Baptist Church.

Chuck and his wife live in Appling, Georgia (just outside Augusta). He has four grown children and enjoys hunting, fishing and sports.
