Chelsea Black has served SouthState as a Vice President and Branch Manager since 2014, joining the Premier Private Banking Group in 2024. She began her banking career in 2005 with a small community bank in the Colorado Rockies. She is a seasoned and accomplished banker, passionately committed to assisting clients in achieving their personal and business financial goals through high-touch, concierge service. Her expertise extends to high-net-worth clients, including individuals, families, and business owners.
Since the inception of the Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame in 2015, Chelsea has served as its treasurer. A member of the Hilton Head Area Council of Estate & Financial Advisors, she works to improve the community’s literacy of financial and legal matters. She actively participates in Junior Achievement, the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission, and various volunteer activities through her church. As an Ambassador to SouthState’s Culture Council, Chelsea contributes to the development of employees into leaders and upholds SouthState’s esteemed legacy as one of the premier banks for which to work.
Holding a degree in Psychology with an Industrial-Organizational emphasis, Chelsea continually enhances her industry knowledge through numerous certifications from the American Bankers Association.
A native of Bluffton, South Carolina, Chelsea and her husband returned to her hometown in 2009 to be near her family, who have resided in the area since the late 1860s. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, her rescue dogs, boating or paddleboarding in the Lowcountry waters, or embarking on hiking adventures in the North Carolina mountains.
