What information do I need to apply for a business account online?
You will need your Social Security Number, valid ID (Driver’s License, U.S. Passport, Tribal ID or State ID), valid address and a valid email address registered to your name. If your application will include co-applicant(s), your co-applicant(s) will also need to supply this information. If applicable to your business, you will need to upload documents such as formation documents (Articles of Incorporation, Certification of Formation, Partnership Agreement, etc.) to verify your business.
What types of SouthState business accounts can I open online?
You can open business Checking, Savings or Money Market accounts online.
How can I fund my account?
You can fund your account through debit/credit card or at a later time with Mobile Deposit, ATM deposits, or by visiting a branch.
How much do I need to deposit into my new account?
If you plan to fund your account at the time of account opening, the minimum amount you will need to deposit is $50.
Can I save an application and finish it later?
Yes. You can save your application and finish it later. To save an application, click “Finish Later.” To resume an application, visit the
Customer Portal.
How long will my application be saved if I have not completed it?
Your online application will be saved for 30 days. After 30 days, your application will expire, and you will need to start a new application.
After my application has been approved, how long will it be saved?
Once your application has been approved, you can visit the Customer Portal within the next 60 days to enroll in Online Banking, view account number(s), agreements, disclosures, and additional details.
How old do I need to be to open a business account online?
To open a business account online you must be at least 18 years or older, or the age of majority in the state of residence.
Who can open a business account online?
Businesses with up to 3 individuals can open a checking, savings or money market. Some entity types require a Beneficial Owner, Certifying Party, Control Person, Signer and/or Sole Proprietor.
What entity types are available for account opening online?
Sole Proprietorship, Single Member LLC, General Partnership, and S Corporation.
How many signers can I add to my business account when I open it online?
You can add up to three individuals when opening your business account online.
How do I add additional signers to my existing Business Account?
To add additional signers to your existing Business Accounts, you will need to visit your local branch. All existing signers will need to resign documents.
Do all signers need to resign documents if I add another signer to my existing business account?
Yes, when adding additional signers to your existing business account, all signers must resign the documents.
How do I remove a signer on my existing business account?
If you want to remove a signer on your existing business account, you must visit your local branch.
What is a Beneficial Owner?
A Beneficial Owner is any individual who, directly or indirectly, owns 25 percent or more of the legal entity.
What is a Certifying Party?
A Certifying Party is the natural person authorized to open the account.
What is a Signer?
An authorized Signer is a person who has access to the account(s) and can conduct transactions on behalf of the business.
What is a Sole Proprietor?
A self-employed individual who is the sole owner of the business and an authorized signer.
I do not currently live within the geographic footprint. Can I open an account?
At this time, your business must have a physical address in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama or Virginia to open a account online.
I recently opened a SouthState account online, but I do not see the account in my Online/Mobile Banking.
