SouthState Expands Atlanta Team with Five New Hires

ATLANTA – May 7, 2026 – SouthState (NYSE: SSB) brought on a group of talented bankers to its growing Atlanta market in the second quarter of 2026. These experienced professionals showcase SouthState’s ongoing investment in people who deepen client relationships and contribute to sustainable growth.

The producers joining SouthState’s Atlanta banking team include:

Jacob Thome – commercial relationship manager, Gainesville – joins SouthState from Regions Bank, where he worked as consumer banking manager and branch manager. A banker for 25 years, he’s worked with small business clients in the community for the last 14 years and led a network of 15 branches across Northeast Georgia with $1.1B in outstanding loans and deposits.
 
JC Boyanton – group executive, corporate capital markets and advisory, Atlanta – joins SouthState after nearly 13 years at Truist, where he served as head of middle market banking in Georgia. In his new role, Boyanton will lead four enterprise-wide lines of business within corporate banking, including loan syndications, sponsor finance, corporate finance, and industry advisory group.

Jamie Coleman – middle market regional director, Atlanta – is a banking leader with more than 30 years of experience advising middle-market companies on financing solutions that support growth, ownership transitions, recapitalizations, and other strategic capital needs. He joined SouthState from CIBC US, where he served as managing director of national commercial banking.

Chris Mattie – regional director of emerging middle market, Atlanta – joins SouthState from Fifth Third Bank, where he served as commercial line of business manager for the middle market. He began his banking career in 1999 as commercial banker and has served in additional roles, including city and area executive covering multiple geographies.

Clint Stuart – Corporate Billing sales representative, Decatur – is an experienced sales manager for multiple industry types. Before joining SouthState subsidiary Corporate Billing, he served as vice president of sales and general manager for a trucking company.
