Currently serving as Charleston regional president, he will retain his responsibilities in Charleston while taking on additional leadership in the Grand Strand corridor.
“It is a natural fit for Thomas to add the responsibility of the bank’s Grand Strand region. He has effectively led the Charleston Region since 2021, producing impressive loan, deposit, and market share growth, while earning high marks on customer and employee satisfaction surveys. In his expanded role as Coastal Division president, he will oversee a $2.3 billion loan portfolio and $3.4 billion deposit franchise, while working closely with Grand Strand Regional President Dale Zeglin to serve this fast-growing market consisting of nine branches, as well as commercial, mortgage, and wealth teams,” says Bill Medich, South Carolina president.
After graduating from the University of the South, Sewanee, Anderson began his banking career in 2007 with SouthState Bank’s management training program in Columbia, South Carolina. After two years of commercial credit roles, he was relocated to Charleston where he helped to grow SouthState’s commercial banking team.
Anderson has been very engaged with the community and currently serves on the executive committee of the South Carolina Community Loan Fund as immediate past chair, the board of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, and the Charleston CEO Council. He’s previously served on boards for Operation Home, the South Carolina Bankers Association, and Windwood Farm, and is a graduate of South Carolina Bankers School and Leadership Charleston.
