What are the requirements to use Bank to Bank Transfers?

Accepting the Terms of Service through Online or Mobile Banking is the only requirement to use the standard 3-day delivery speed. In order to use the Express Transfer delivery speed, customers must complete all of the following:
  • Perform a successful standard inbound Bank to Bank Transfer of $500 or more within the last 30 days.
  • Maintain a $750 balance in the SouthState account they are transferring to/from before the Bank to Bank Transfer.
  • Have a positive balance for the last 3 months.
 

How do I set up an External Bank Account in the Mobile App?

To Add an External Account:
  1. Log in to Online Banking at www.SouthStateBank.com or the Mobile App.
  2. Click Transfer & Pay
  3. Click Bank to Bank External Transfers.
  4. Click +Add External Account on the right hand side.
  5. Select the type of account to be added from the drop down box.
  6. Users will then input Account and Routing Number, then click Next.
  7. Users will have two options to verify external account:
Instant Verification: Customers will enter their Online Login information from their other institution.
1-2 Business Days Verification: Customers will verify their external account with a trial deposit. SouthState will deposit two small amounts into their external bank account within 1-2 business days. Once customers identify the trial deposit amounts, they will need to log into their SouthState Online or Mobile Banking, tap the Alerts on the on the Transfer tab to input the trial deposit amounts and complete their verification.
 
To Make an External Transfer:
  1. Click Transfer & Pay
  2. Click Bank to Bank External Transfers
  3. Click Transfer Funds.
  4. Enter the Amount, From, To, and Date.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Click Confirm to complete.
 

How do I make an Internal Transfer in the Mobile App?

To make an Internal Transfer, you will need to:
  1. Select the Transfer & Pay.
  2. Tap Internal Transfer.
  3. Complete the needed fields, tap Transfer Funds.
  4. Review Transfer, tap Close to finish.
 

Are there limits to how much I can send or receive?

Yes.  There are daily and rolling 30 day limits.  At any time, you can click “View Limits” next to the amount box to see your limits.
 

Is there a fee to transfer funds to another bank using Bank to Bank Transfers?

There is no fee to send funds to another bank unless you qualify for and choose express speed. However, there is not a charge to receive funds into your SouthState Bank account. Log in to Online Banking for fee details.
 
What is the cut off time to initiate or cancel an external transfer?
The cut-off time for Bank to Bank Transfer is 1 A.M. EST.  After this time, all transfers will be processed and cannot be canceled.
 
How do I set up and validate my external accounts?
There are two ways you can set up and validate an external account:
 
Online Banking Credential Verification
You may enter your Online Banking login credentials for the other financial institution. This confirms you have access to the account via Online Banking with the other financial institution. Transfer capability will be available immediately after verification.
 
Trial Deposit Verification
You will receive two small credits in your accounts within 1-2 business days.
 Once the amounts have been received, you will login to SouthState Online or Mobile Banking to confirm the deposits. You cannot send funds until this step is complete.
  • In Online Banking, The Manage Accounts section is where you will enter the Trial Deposit amounts.
  • In the Mobile App, the Alerts option on the Transfer tab is where you will enter the Trail Deposit amounts.
 
Please note: If the Trial Deposit is entered incorrectly, you will need to remove the account and re-enter the information to begin the verification process again.
 

How to access Bank to Bank Transfers?

  1. Log in to Online Banking at SouthStateBank.com or the Mobile App
  2. From the home screen, click Transfer and Pay.
  3. Select Bank to Bank Transfers
 

How do I delete a scheduled transfer in the Mobile app?

  1. Select Transfer and Pay.
  2. Scroll down and select Online Activity.
  3. Select Recurring.
  4. Select the 3 dots on the transfer you want to edit.
  5. Select Cancel Series.
  6. Select Confirm.

How quickly can I send funds?

We offer a standard 3-day delivery speed for Bank to Bank Transfers. An Express option is available for qualifying customers to send next day transfers. To qualify for the Express option, you must complete all of the following:
  • Perform a successful standard inbound Bank to Bank Transfer of $500 or more within the last 30 days.
  • Maintain a $750 balance in the SouthState account you are transferring to/from before the Bank to Bank Transfer.
  • Have a positive balance for the last 3 months.
