Mr Webb was informative and helpful initially in “selling me” on the loan product I chose. A “doctor loan”. Unfortunately the loan processors and underwriting process was a nightmare. Excessive document requests, minimal communication, and I felt like a “criminal” trying to pull something over on their bank. I don’t believe this was in Mr Webbs control. I know feds are cracking down on loan fraud but this experience was exhausting and I didn’t feel like a valued customer about to generate a large revenue stream for South State Bank. My closing date was set up > 5 weeks out and my loan package wasn’t delivered to the closing lawyer till 30 min before closing appointment. Major stress on the sellers, buyers and realtors. I had to open a checking account at the it bank which I thought was unnecessary. In the end we made the closing but this process with South State Bank was much more difficult than the last 3 homes I was a part of buying. Planning to pay the loan off in full or close to it when I sell my other home in next 3 months.
