What Are the Benefits of a VA Loan?
VA guaranteed loans are made by private lenders like SouthState to eligible veterans, service members, and their surviving spouses for the purchase of a home as their primary residence or the refinancing of an existing VA loan. We are able to do this with competitive interest rates and as little as no money down, making homeownership more attainable to those who have served our nation.
There are several benefits to a VA loan for those who qualify. Not being required to pay a down payment is a big perk and very different than a conventional mortgage. Mortgage insurance (MI) is not required like on other types of home loans when you put down less than 20%. There is also more flexibility for qualification, such as credit score and a higher debt to income ratio.
