Extending a Welcome to the Summer ’24 Interns

Young children’s school year is over, but learning is just beginning for the Summer 2024 interns at SouthState. As part of the Commercial Banking Internship program, college students are posted across our footprint gaining hands-on experience and being mentored by team members. 

The program encompasses 10 weeks of rotations through the commercial lending process, a capstone presentation to local leadership, virtual connections with fellow interns and a mock loan project. 

Mentoring the 33 interns are 13 team members. They will guide the interns through job duties associated with credit analyst, portfolio manager and relationship manager, as well as offering career and job seeking advice. 

Since its inception, SouthState’s Commercial Banking Internship program has drawn applicants from across the country. This year’s crop of students hails from universities including University of Miami, Oklahoma State University, Florida State University, Georgia Tech and many more. 

Interns may continue on with SouthState through the Commercial Banking Associate Program, a 12-month journey of leadership development, on-the-job training and individualized mentorship. Several previous associates have joined SouthState full time as new employees.
