‘Culture on Full Display’: Commercial Interns Develop During Summer Session

southstate commercial banking intern speaking to group
While many students took the summer off from learning, 33 enterprising students chose to make the time count with a SouthState commercial banking internship. Commercial team members from across the company’s Southeast footprint warmly welcomed them for the 10-week term, imparting knowledge and leadership skills.

Interns began the summer ready to work hard and learn from the best. They rotated through the commercial lending process, created a capstone presentation and performed a mock loan scenario. Along the way, they made connections with fellow interns virtually and in person.

SouthState bankers also bestowed the value of community service, inviting the interns to join them on a volunteer opportunity in the city they were stationed.

As they wrap up this valuable step in their professional journey, several students shared their thoughts on how the internship shaped them, prepared them for future opportunities and grew their confidence.
