Disrupting the Hospitality Industry with Technology
1/24/2020
Most high-end hotels, executive apartments and the like focus purely on the classic hospitality amenities that consumers have come to expect over the last half-century. Revisn, as the name implies, is different.
Revisn, located at 615 North Boylan Street in Raleigh, NC, is a fully furnished residence with boutique hotel amenities, perfect for corporate business residence, business travel, relocation or temporary housing for guests who need accommodations for 30 days or longer.
Revisn isn’t just a hospitality company, it’s a technology company. Guests won’t have to wait in line to check in or wait until the mandated “check-in time,” because the entire check-in process is handled through Revisn’s proprietary mobile app, which offers heightened security features and a streamlined experience that puts the guest in control of their stay.
The concept comes from Dicky Walia, CEO and Managing Director of Welcome Holdings – the parent company of Revisn. Walia, an attorney and celebrated hospitality and real estate developer, has developed various hotel franchises, student housing and office spaces.
“I decided to do something different – something that had not been done before and where my hands were not tied by a franchise,” Walia said. “We wanted to be pioneers, and we are disrupting this industry.”
“Millenials don’t want a continental breakfast,” says Walia. “They want no buffering on their devices. They want to bring five devices, use them simultaneously and not miss a beat.”
Revisn was born from extensive focus groups spanning 18 months.
“Every item you find in our units is based off of customer preference data, from the custom furniture designs down to the Revisn-branded dinnerware in the cabinets of our fully functional kitchens,” says Walia. “Today’s customers prefer ten-foot ceilings, so we took their feedback and incorporated it into our design and architecture as we developed our brand to provide an eclectic, modern and comfortable home. Even our automated check-in process was put in place to make our extended-stay guests feel more ‘at home’ and more secure because of the information we collected from our focus study.”Revisn kitchen
Revisn has 48 total units in its Raleigh location, 36 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom. All guests gain access to a fully-functional apartment space complete with a living room, kitchen, washer/dryer unit, enterprise-grade Wi-Fi, Amazon Echo Dot with in-room automation and YouTube TV streaming service.
Walia has ample experience securing financing for his real-estate endeavors, but he wanted to ensure he had a trusted partner in the Raleigh market to finance his new facility construction.
“I like having a bank that does business the way I do – creating solutions to meet our guests and clients’ needs,” said Walia.
